Farhat Hashmi

Farhat Naseem Hashmi (Urdu: فرحت ہاشمی; born December 22, 1957) is a renowned Pakistani-Canadian Islamic scholar and preacher. She is the founder of the Al-Huda Institute, a network of Islamic religious schools aimed at empowering women through Quranic education.

Farhat Hashmi holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She previously served as a lecturer and assistant professor at the International Islamic University, Islamabad, in the Faculty of Usul-al-Din.

In 1994, she established the Al-Huda International Welfare Foundation, which focuses on teaching the Quran and Hadith to women. The foundation operates a network of schools, seminaries, and social welfare projects, promoting a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings.

In 2004, Farhat Hashmi expanded her work by founding the Al-Huda Institute Canada in Mississauga, Ontario. The institute offers courses on the exegesis of the Quran and Hadith, attracting students from around the world, including Australia.
