Sila Rehmi is one of the most significant values in Islam, emphasizing the duty of maintaining good relations with family members. When a person practices Sila Rehmi, they fulfill an obligation that Allah has repeatedly commanded in the Qur’an and Sunnah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ highlighted that those who maintain family ties will have their life prolonged and sustenance increased. On the other hand, breaking ties is strongly discouraged and brings about displeasure of Allah.
